Why I chose to research this topic
This is my fourth year being apart of the Apollo Program. Throughout my time here, I have always focused on the importance of mental health. Ranging from mental health in the United States, to mental health in other countries, such as Morocco. I have created projects on mental health awareness, perspectives on mental health, and the mental health care system. My thinking for this project idea was, "Now that I have obtained and learned information over the past three years of the mental health topic, what are ways I can learn and teach others on how to take care of one's mental health? And what are ways that I can make a visual where individuals can use those ideas in their own personal environment?"

Instagram Page
For the English portion of the project, I created an Instagram page and an infographic discussing ways to take care of your mental health. For the Instagram page, I focused on answering five important questions, "Who, What, Where, When and Why?" I did so because I wanted to make sure that I was contextualizing my topic completely. I researched tips to follow in order to have a successful Instagram page and I also viewed examples of pages that did so. Before I posted on my Instagram page, I made a schedule of when and what I was posting for the week. That was helping me grow and manage my time management skills during that process as well.

Infographic
For the infographic portion, I first researched the most effective and successful ways in creating one. I made sure I understood the best ways in making the infographic visually appealing as well as having a great amount of information, that wasn't overwhelming also. I broke up the information on the infographic into categories and went into detail so that I could explain all of the information in detail so that I was contextualizing the research that I obtained and learned. Contextualization was shown by answering the question "What?". What are ways that YOU as a reader can take care of your mental health? My overall goal was to have the viewer easily navigate throughout the document and quickly read all of the information provided.

Mental Health Self Care Basket
For the art portion of my project I created a self care basket and uploaded it on my instagram page. Before I created my self care basket, I researched other baskets for inspiration and ideas. I wanted to create a color theme aesthetic so that it could look appealing to viewers. I also researched effective ways to photograph products that are publish ready, as well as editing them. I wanted to make sure I contextualized the self care basket by focusing on the "What?" question. What products can you use to include in the baskets for your mental health self care? I created a list of products and items that I wanted to include in my basket so that I was able to select my final items for the ending product. I also created a simple tee shirt design that reads on the front, "Be Kind to Your Mind", and on the back reads "Mental Health is Health". It is always comforting to have a reminder so simple when having a tough week or day. Don't beat yourself up. You are doing amazing.
